Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Montessori Teaching

Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Montessori Teaching (DCMT) is a one-year Open, Distance and Flexible Learning (ODFL) programme offered by the State Resource Centre, Kerala, to prepare professionally competent educators for preschools and early learning centres. The programme integrates the principles of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) with the internationally recognised Montessori philosophy and methodology, enabling learners to develop a comprehensive understanding of child growth, development, and learning during the foundational stage of education. It equips learners with the knowledge and skills required to implement child-centred, play-based, activity-oriented, experiential, and inclusive teaching practices that foster the cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and language development of young children. The curriculum combines theory with extensive practical training through teaching practice, Montessori materials presentation, and classroom observation, ensuring that learners gain hands-on experience in real educational settings. Offered through a flexible learning mode with self-learning materials, contact sessions, and practical components, the programme is particularly suited for Plus Two qualified candidates, especially women and mothers seeking career opportunities in early childhood education.
